Why Validate Your App Idea Before Building It?

You know, ever since I began my career in IT, and specifically in software development, I've dreamed of becoming rich through apps.

So I began writing them. One by one, they failed.

Not because of a lack of technical skills, but because nobody wanted them.

I pitched different people who I thought were going to agree with me that the app I was building would be the next big hit.

There's an idea in business that, to sell well, a product must ultimately be something people enjoy using while also solving a problem for them in some capacity.

I built a few apps and quickly became tired of building them. I wasn't sure if people would like the MVP, so I thought about what I could add.

An app is never finished. Eventually, it evolves, and it will need maintenance at the very least.

What if, instead of spending several weeks building something nobody wants, I could somehow validate it first?

Well, here I am, giving you the opportunity to gauge what others think.

Example: Validate Before You Build

Imagine you have an idea for an app that helps homeowners find a reliable plumber. You could spend several weeks building an MVP, only to discover that homeowners already have ways of finding plumbers and don't need another app.

Instead, you could describe the idea to potential customers first, ask how they currently solve the problem, and find out whether they would actually use a dedicated app.

If they aren't interested, you've learned something valuable without spending weeks building the product.

That's the purpose of validation: finding out whether the problem and solution are worth pursuing before investing heavily in development.

Even if people don't think it's a great idea, that's okay. You would find out sooner rather than $10k later.
